IBS®
students are closely involved with all forms of industry
interface and gain hands-on experience, which leads to a deeper
understanding of management concepts. They are also encouraged
to organize seminars, management meets and workshops to develop
managerial and organizing skills.
IBS®
has adopted a very systematic approach towards building the
careers of its students. To make this possible, it has set up
Career Management Centers at each campus, to plan and implement
the placement activities throughout the year.
|
Career Management Center (CMC) |
Each
IBS®
campus has its own Career Management Center. The CMC
operates under the overall guidance of a coordinator who heads a
team of managers and executives responsible for the career
management activities at that campus. Over 60 full-time managers
and executives are working towards better placements every year,
at the different IBS®
campuses.
The
main objective of the CMC is to enhance career prospects of IBS®
students. CMC personnel visit potential employers in various
companies and apprise them of the ample talent available at our
business school. Over the years, these managers and executives
have developed strong relationships with more than 4,000
companies. This interaction with the industry has equipped the
career management team in providing the students with
information that will guide them in planning their careers
properly. It also helps to increase recruitment and maintain
strong industry contacts.
Last
year, more than 350 companies recruited students from IBS®
campuses. Both national and international placements are offered
to our students. The number of national and international
placements, as well as the salaries offered, have been improving
consistently over the years. There has also been a steady
increase in the number of companies recruiting from IBS®
every
year.
Providing
a Strong Foundation
The
CMC organizes various activities such as guest lectures,
pre-placement talks and workshops, which give opportunities to
the industry as well as the students to interact with each
other. Apart from academics the students are given career
counseling and training in soft skills, and are also exposed to
practice group discussion sessions and mock interviews prior to
the final placements.
Personality
Development
The
students are provided training in personality development. They
are sensitized to the importance of entrepreneurship and
leadership in ensuring organizational success.
Career
Counseling
Career
counselors guide the students through the process of
investigating possible career options and help them make career
choices which are in tune with their interests, abilities, and
work experience.
Career
Library
The
students have access to a comprehensive collection of
information on employers as well as listings of current job
openings. This extensive company information database
facilitates the search for jobs that match the students'
requirements.
Internships
The
Summer Internship Program (SIP) and the Business Research
Project combine academic inputs with practical training and
offer industry-related, hands-on experience in various career
opportunities. They also help students gain future employment
contacts by networking with potential employers.
Strong
Industry Interface
Industry
interaction programs are organized by CMC with a cross-section
of professionals from various sectors and functional areas like
financial services, marketing, human resource management,
operations, information technology, etc. A range of professional
development seminars are also organized with the industry, to
facilitate regular job placements.
The
entire placement exercise is a collaborative effort between IBS®
and the students. While IBS®
provides guidance and support
through extensive networking with potential employers, the
students have the responsibility of making the best possible
efforts to obtain suitable placements.
The
placements for the Class of 2007 have been completed, and as
always, IBS®
has achieved 100% placements. More than 350 leading
recruiters have participated in the campus placements this year.
Given
the right platform, IBS®
believes that its students can achieve
new heights in business management and set their own standards
of performance in the industry. IBS®
students are trained to be
well-rounded professionals, and the placement record is adequate
testimony to the fact.
