Introduction

IBS® Mumbai, a constituent of the Icfaian Foundation is one of the 19 campuses of IBS and has been ranked among the top 25 business schools in India. IBS-M is established to promote quality education, research, training and consultancy in management. The school believes in and practices the parent organization’s philosophy of "Meritum Ethicus (Merit with Ethics)". The vision of IBS-Mumbai is to be the ’WHARTON OF THE EAST’. In pursuit of this, it strives to achieve excellence on all fronts while being “student-centric”.

IBS-M Approach

BS® Mumbai was set up in 1995.The new beautiful campus of IBS-Mumbai is located off Technology Street, in the heart of Powai at the prestigious Hiranandani Gardens, one of the best suburbs, being a corporate hub and an architect’s delight. The campus covers a total area of more than 1, 00,000 sq.ft .We expect our students to take full advantage of the learning environment and join the corporate world as aggressive contributors.

The two-year full-time program at IBS® Mumbai is designed to provide students exposure to the concepts, policies and techniques for the effective and efficient management of businesses of global organizations. The school offers the students a choice of specialization in Finance, Marketing, Information Technology & Systems, Insurance, Human Resource Management, Investment, Operations Management, Banking, Accounting and Control, Entrepreneurship and International Business. IBS® Mumbai has an abiding dedication to the all-round development of the individual. Studying at IBS-M involves an innovative and participative methodology.  

Intellectual Capital

The IBS® Mumbai faculty plays a significant role in ensuring quality education through interactive teaching, continuous multiple criteria, evaluation and feedback to students. The faculty members bring their extensive knowledge, business experience and advanced education to their task. They are active in research, provide consultancy to business enterprises and remain current with the swiftly changing business environment. IBS® Mumbai today has 39 highly qualified core faculty members on its rolls. Twelve of them have Ph.D degrees. In addition, the IBS® Mumbai gets assistance from about 50 visiting faculty members, all experienced industry professionals and consultants. 

The focus at IBS® Mumbai is on learning and not just teaching. Hence, the classrooms have been designated as Learning Halls.  Three Syndicate Rooms are specially crafted for studies, discussions and student-faculty interaction. The school lays a great deal of emphasis on interactive, hands-on learning through cases and live projects.

Facilities

Sumatra Ghoshal Library - Stacks of Wisdom

The Library is named after one of the foremost management thinkers of this century and is the most popular place for the students at IBS-M. The library has an extensive collection of over 25,000 books related to various aspects of Business Management, Finance and Banking, Economics, Marketing and Human Resource Management. Several titles on self development and general interest are added to the collection on a regular basis. The library also stocks the in-house publications and subscribes to 110 print periodicals including Harvard Business Review, MIT Sloan Management Review, and Journal of Marketing, ASTD T + D, and CIO among others.  

In addition to these, more than 80 periodicals published by the Icfai University Press on diverse subjects are received in the library and made available to the users.

In the audio/visual collection section, the library has more than 1800 CDs, and a select collection of audio and video cassettes. The library provides access to several online databases such as Business Source Complete (EBSCO), Reuters Business Insight, Emerald, and Science Direct.

Computer Lab  – Triumphant Technology at work in search of truth

The computer lab is equipped with the latest hardware and software technology which are constantly upgraded in keeping with the changes in technology and industry requirements. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled and students are provided with laptops. The computer lab has more than 60 network points.  

Campus  is  powered with internet Bandwidth of 2Mbps.Apart from the various online databases students can also avail facilities of latest software, including management related software , which helps students in their day to day activities.

Auditorium – Comfort Redefined

The comfortable 225 seater Auditorium, equipped with the latest audio visual equipment spells comfort redefined for civilized debates and ceremonies.

Conference Room –Where Minds Meet

An exquisitely designed board room is frequently used for faculty seminars, advisory board meetings and lectures by eminent personalities from the field of academics and industry.

Campus cafeteria-Whetting Executive Appetites 

Providing a vibrant atmosphere, the IBS-M Cafeteria in addition to enhancing executive appetites also expands learning and interpersonal skills of students.

 

Personality Development and Soft Skills

Language Lab – Corporate Approach to learning 

The lab is meant to help students to hone their speech skills in English language. The lab provides the facility of checking pronunciation and errors with the help of language trainer. The paralanguage factors of pronunciation, volume, rate, pitch and enunciation which are important for clear speech and communication are given special emphasis                  

 

Students Activities

Clubs And Forums

Co-curricular activities round the year are an essential part of life on the campus, aimed at grooming students and also providing them with respite from academic pressures.

Proscenium (The Film Club): The Film Club was formed to bring about a realization in the students that soft skills go beyond the classroom experience of games and activities. They explore cinema as a medium of communication that could help them understand the magic of soft skills by studying various characters in various kinds of situations.

Parivartan (The Social Development Cell): TParivartan is involved in Community Development work. It is actively involved with development work in the neighboring industrial and underprivileged area adjoining the IBS® complex. The areas focused on are literacy, self health and environmental health.

Kautilya- is a Management and Economics club of the students formed to improve domain knowledge and to increase general awareness.

Argelitum-The Book Club - Offers a chance to students who would like to build their confidence in the skills of delivery.

Sports Activities: IBS® Mumbai - provides opportunities to the students to participate in various indoor and outdoor sports activities to help them develop team skills and inculcate discipline   while enhancing a healthy competitive spirit.

National Management fest-konflux/ ‘WHERE MINDS, PASSIONS AND ACTIONS MEET…..’

Konflux is a three day annual management school fest of IBS® Mumbai. It is organized by the Student Council along with the Student Activity Coordinator. It symbolizes assimilation of diversities brought about by language, geography and religion. Konflux’s events are a combination of activities designed to bring classroom knowledge

alive with competitions and events culminated with cultural programs like a fashion show and enthusiastic dance performances. In 2006, a Pre-Konflux week along with the Global Forum has been an added feature to the event.
