The
mission of IBS®
is to develop ethically grounded,
professional managers who can add value to the
organizations and communities in which they function. IBS®
provides a high-quality learning experience that is
designed to develop managers who can meet the challenges
of the world of business with competence and confidence.
IBS®
gives utmost importance to value-based education in the form of
|

|
-
Equal
opportunity for all, without discrimination.
-
A
supportive environment that develops and sustains the
potential of the faculty and students.
-
Community
service and involvement.
-
Commitment
to ethics.
IBS®
follows a hub and spokes model of operations.
In
this system, the hub is located at the IBS®
headquarters at
Hyderabad. All centralized activities like admissions,
development of courseware, establishing procedures for
standardized evaluation, etc., are undertaken at the hub.
The
IBS®
Executive Council, consisting of the Director, IBS®, and the
Directors/Deans/Coordinators of all the IBS®
campuses, is the
apex body that regulates the operational and academic
functioning of IBS®. The Executive Council reviews the operations
of the individual campuses and takes decisions on all
centralized academic and operational issues.
The
spokes are the individual IBS®
campuses, at different locations
across the country. They are responsible for delivering
high-quality instruction based on the common program structure
and curriculum of the University. They are also responsible for
providing the requisite academic infrastructure (library,
computer support, well equipped classrooms, and certified
faculty), maintaining discipline, developing a strong
industry-institute interface, and taking care of placements.
The
individual IBS®
campuses operate independently. Each campus is
administered by a Director/Dean/Coordinator with the help of an
Advisory Board, a Faculty Council, a Student Council, and Alumni
Chapters.
High
academic standards are ensured at all the IBS®
campuses through
well-structured pedagogy processes and quality assurance
systems.
-
The
program structure, the core courses and electives, and the
syllabus are common for all
IBS®
campuses.
-
Courseware
(textbooks, workbooks, and books of reading) are developed
centrally and provided to all the campuses.
-
All
students are provided with laptop computers with the
necessary software.
-
Academic
delivery, including the session plans and the cases handled,
is conducted according to a common weekly schedule at all
the campuses.
-
Faculty
selection for all the
IBS®
campuses is carried out by a
common Faculty Selection Board, and is based on uniform
norms and quality standards.
-
All
the campuses have access to the same rich set of industry
databases, academic databases, and software. The libraries
of all the
IBS®
campuses have access to databases like EBSCO,
Science Direct, Emerald Management Xtra, Reuters Business
Insight, Marketline, EIU Viewswire, Word Development
Indicators, CMIE, Cygnus MBA Knowledge Pack, etc.
-
All
academic resources and other infrastructure resources across
all the campuses are administered according to uniform
norms.
-
Faculty
forums, workshops, and seminars are organized regularly to
facilitate exchange of ideas between campuses and improve
teaching effectiveness across all campuses.
-
Faculty
Development Workshops are frequently conducted at all the
campuses to provide opportunities for self-development to
the faculty members.
-
Systems
are in place for the continuous monitoring of academic
processes to ensure that delivery and evaluation schedules
are adhered to, and uniform quality is maintained across all
campuses.
-
Student
activities, including the organization of management
festivals and guest lectures, are encouraged and implemented
by the campuses.
-
Placement
of students is centrally monitored at the hub and executed
at all the individual campuses by strong placement teams.
While
the campuses carry out the complete process of academic delivery
as per the guidelines from the hub at Hyderabad, they also
undertake other unique activities for their own development.
This
system ensures a uniform quality of academic delivery, faculty,
placements, and facilities across the family of IBS®
campuses,
and also gives the individual campuses the independence to
develop and grow on their own.
This
balanced mix of centralization and decentralization has worked
successfully for more than a decade, and today, IBS®
can be proud
of its 16,500 alumni, who after passing out from the multi-state
network of IBS®
campuses, are contributing successfully to 900
organizations both in India and abroad.
The
profiles of individual IBS®
campuses are provided in the
subsequent sections.
