| Preamble ICFAI Business School (IBS),
which is a reputed B-School in India, is part of the ICFAI University.
It is the largest B-School in India with 16 campuses all over the country.
Within about nine years of its existence it is now rated among the top
management schools in India by several independent business School surveys
conducted by well-known agencies.
IBS is committed to high quality levels in all its endeavours. In line with this commitment it has expressed its intention to encourage and foster research activity, which is the backbone of management education. To make this a reality it has set up ICFAI Institute of Management Teachers (IIMT), to act as the nucleus of doctoral research. IIMT also has the mandate to groom and supply to the IBS system scholarly faculty with sound research background. This in due course will impact the quality of teaching and research at IBS. At ICFAI there is a strong emphasis on creating venues for publishing research related outputs. ICFAI publishes a large number of management journals and magazines in various areas of management and related disciplines. The management and allied books published have a focus on emerging and frontier themes. These publications are being well received by a wide cross section of professionals, academics and students. Case research is another thrust area. Two affiliates of ICFAI namely ICFAI Knowledge Centre (IKC) and ICFAI Centre for Management Research (ICMR) are involved in developing high quality case studies in management. The untiring efforts of ICMR in developing comprehensive and situational cases are resulting in these cases being uploaded on European Case Clearing House (ECCH),UK,which are being used by many leading business schools across the world. Post-Doctoral Fellowship Process at IBSThe institution of Post-Doctoral
Fellowships (PDF) is a way to promote research, infusion of new ideas
and recent knowledge as well as creating a set of potential candidates
for faculty recruitment. This is intended for both research talent identification
and talent development. Candidates seeking to expand their research competencies
either by moving into new areas or by obtaining knowledge and skills not
obtained in their doctoral programs are encouraged to apply.
The IBS-PDF will be rigorous with periodic review of the progress of the 'approved individual research proposal' vis-à-vis benchmarks and milestones set. All fellows will be required to submit reports periodically describing their work progress during the two-year period. Fellows will also be required to provide copies of the final completed research report at the end of the fellowship. The scholarly work culture at IBS will encourage creative research work. The research products thus emerging will have to find place for publication in internationally acclaimed refereed journals. Engaging the classes for bright young minds drawn from across the length and breadth of India with diverse academic background pursuing MBA program at IBS will be yet another challenging assignment. This will need the linking of research to classroom teaching. The Fellowships, to the extent possible, will be designed to meet the individual and organisational academic objectives. The longer-term possibility for a successful postdoctoral researcher is the opportunity that exists for joining IBS as a faculty member at an appropriate level. Fellowship Highlights
What the Fellowship will Entail We are looking for bright researchers
who have completed their Ph. D degree recently, but not earlier than three
years, for these Post-Doctoral fellowships. However, those scholars who
have submitted their Ph.D. thesis and are awaiting oral defence may also
apply.
How to apply? We expect the prospective applicant
to apply in the prescribed 'Application
Form' and also submit a 2000 word 'Research
Proposal' detailing the research activity proposed to be undertaken
during the two-year period. Please see the 'Application
Form' and format for the 'Research
Proposal' given separately. This research proposal has to be in one
of the below mentioned areas, which are only illustrative not exhaustive:
How the Selection will be done
An expert committee will short-list the applicants based on their research
proposal and qualifications. Subsequently the short-listed applicants will
interact with this panel of experts and depending on the quality of the
research proposal as well as its suitability to ICFAI, and the demonstrated
capacity to perform management research the final award of the post doctoral
fellowship will be made.
Candidates have to apply in the application form
for this purpose along with the curriculum vitae. The applicant has to
apply along with a research proposal as indicated earlier, which will
be an important basis for selection. How the research proposal of the
candidate gels with the research strategy of the Institute is also an
important criterion for selection to the PDF. Due weightage will be given
to the candidates track record of quality publications. The Fellows are
expected to join on June 1, 2004 and will be placed in different units
of ICFAI Business School. Application Deadline Applications may be sent on or before April 30, 2004 along with the 'Research Proposal', detailed Curriculum Vitae, list of publications and two academic references to the under signed: Dr. V S Pai, |
